Experience the natural diversity of Virginia! With over 10
million items in our collections, the museum is at the forefront
of scientific discovery of the natural world in Virginia. Seven
staff scientists actively engage in research on subjects ranging from dinosaurs to millipedes and the museum shares their new discoveries with exhibits, programs, publications, field trips and 
teacher education.

Martinsville-Henry County Heritage Center & Museum

  

Henry County Courthouse
 

 

The Historic Henry County Courthouse houses the MHC
Heritage Center and Museum in the portion of the building
that was formerly the Henry County Circuit Court Clerk's
Office. Displays in the Collectors Gallery change often
so there is always something new to see. The former
Deed Room is home to a timeline of the history of
Martinsville and Henry County featuring artifacts,
photographs and articles on Native American fish
weirs, the Civil War, tobacco and local industries.

Bassett Historical Center 

 

FAHI African American Heritage Museum

 

This research facility features
exhibits on military, Native Americans, Appalachian craft, plantation life
and early industry.

 Philpott Lake Cultural History Exhibit

 

On display are artifacts concerning
the tobacco industry as well as
artifacts and photos from recent industries and businesses, the Civil War, World War I and World War II.
