The following are examples of the itinerary your group could select.  All itineraries are completely customized to your group's needs; depending on the group size, preferred activity level, time allotted and group budget. Martinsville Motorsports Fan Tour- Start your morning off with a guided tour of Martinsville Speedway
Arrington Performance and see where NASCAR engines are built. Your group will be amazed as they watch the stages of development from raw blocks of metal all the way to extreme engine testing in the Dyno. Take your photo next to the Martinsville Speedway historical marker commemorating the 60th anniversary of the track then head into the track for a self-guided walk around Martinsville Speedway, NASCAR's most historic track. If you've arranged for step-on guide service through the MHC Visitor Center your group will be treated to a bus ride around the famous half-mile paper clip and walking tour, contact us for more details!

Enjoy lunch at Clarence's Seafood and Steakhouse where you can sit right beside numerous trophies won by NASCAR driver Philp Morris, including a Ridgeway Clock Grandfather clock from his 2010 win at Martinsville Speedway. After lunch test your own driving skills with a few laps around the track at Martinsville Grand Prix Go Karts. You can even turn this fun day trip into a weekend visit by staying for the Martinsville Uptown Cruise-In, held on the 3rd Saturday of each month April through October. You'll see hundreds of unique and classic vehicles on display and enjoy live entertainment!

 

Arts & Culture Getaway- You can't spell MARTinsville without art! Explore galleries at Wood Turning
Piedmont Arts, which features six different exhibits per year. Watch award-winning artists at work in Studio 107 where you can observe wood turning, painting, glasswork, fiber arts and jewelry making. Treat your group to an immersive hands-on experience at The Artisan Center where they can learn to create their own work of art, make something delicious in the culinary arts studio or watch of a taping of the television program "Cooking with Chef Paul." Our friendly step-on guides can also take you on a driving tour of public artwork and murals in the area. 

If your group enjoys live theater you can attend a variety of theatrical performances throughout the year offered by Piedmont Arts "On Stage" and TheatreWorks Community Players. There are plenty opportunities for your group to enjoy live music as well at Spencer Penn Centre, The Historic Rives Theatre and numerous other venues throughout the community. Hike, Bike & Paddle Excursions- Enjoy the great outdoors in Martinsville-Henry County. 
Start your day off with a leisurely bike ride on the Dick & Willie Passage Rail TrailActivate MHC's Bike Barn at the Doyle Street Trailhead features a fleet of more than 30 bicycles for persons age 5 and up to borrow free of charge. Enjoy a stroll along one of the many trails in the Smith River Trail System or a guided interpretive walk along the trails of the Richard P. Gravely, Jr. Nature Preserve. When the day warms up, hit the Smith River for paddling fun with a guided kayak trip hosted by Smith River Adventure Outfitters or your group may choose to paddle canoes on Beaver Creek Reservoir. Whatever activity you choose to do your group will be amazed by the scenic beauty of our area and the friendly people that they will meet along the rivers, lakes and trails of Martinsville-Henry County, Virginia.
