Bassett Historical Center Programs for October and November 2017
Thursday September 7, 2017
Tuesday, October 3 from 9:00am until 12:00 noon
Baseball season is not over yet, as we still have the playoffs and World Series to go. “BASEBALL COLLECTIBLES AND MEMORABILIA” presented by Teddy Compton will be featured at Bassett Historical Center on Tuesday, October 3rd, from 9am until noon. This collection runs from the 1930s to present day and features baseball cards, bats, gloves, and other types of baseball collectibles. This exhibit is free and open to the public and will be displayed in the Susan L. Adkins Memorial Meeting Room.
Tuesday, November 14 at 10:30am
Bob Vogler will present a program entitled “BERNARDO DE GALVEZ AND SPAIN’S ROLE IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION”. Spain is America’s forgotten ally during the Revolutionary War and Bernardo de Galvez is arguably its most successful general having never been defeated by the British during his Gulf Coast Campaign. Spain contributed supplies, money, material, ships, and manpower as a “co-belligerent” during the war. This program is a concise summary of Spain’s assistance which helped to secure the independence of the United States. This program is free and open to the public and will be held in the Susan L. Adkins Memorial Meeting Room.
