Meet a Martinsville Insider: Roger Adams, Director of Henry County Parks & Recreation. An avid roller blader on the Smith River Trail System, Roger is very active in the community and here are his insider tips on places for visitors to check out.

Where do you go to enjoy Martinsville-Henry County's arts-and-entertainment scene?

"I always enjoy the shows that Piedmont Arts Association offers at Martinsville High School. Uptown Martinsville also has a lot of events that I enjoy including, TGIF, Music Shows at the Rives and performances at the Black Box Theatre."

Where do you take friends and family when they come to town?

"When my family and friends come to visit, we try to take them somewhere different each time. They have been to a race at the Martinsville Speedway, the Virginia Museum of Natural History, Martinsville Mustangs, Fairy Stone State Park, the Dick & Willie Trail and Philpott Dam."

What are your top Martinsville-Henry County dining spots?

"We have so many great local places to eat. My favorite place to eat is Elizabeth's Pizza. I also like Fenderz Drive-In, Captian Tom's Seafood, The Collinsville Bistro, Najjar's Pizza and Wild Magnolia."
