Smith River T-Ball League at Sports Complex
The Smith River T-Ball League has completed its second week of their season at the Smith River Sports Complex (SRSC). The SRSC is proud to announce the addition of youth T-ball to the many athletic opportunities available at the Complex. With this new sporting availability, the SRSC hopes to continue to offer different opportunities that allow further use of the facility by the local community.
The purpose of the T-ball program, initially founded in 2008 by Bill Parks, Warren Fisher, Charles Byrd, and Greg Hylton, is to promote the area's youth baseball and softball through instruction of the game and quality of play.
The SRSC is excited for this league, as it is their first season of hosting T-ball. Director of Operations for the SRSC, Billy Russo, said, "SRSC is glad that we could provide this league and give more children, who may not play soccer, a chance to play at our complex."

For its inaugural year at the Complex, the Smith River T-Ball League consists of 19 teams with 275 registered kids. This year the number of participants has exceeded the past 5 years since the league was initially established in 2008 and it is hopeful that it will continue to expand.
"We now offer 8 different sports, so hopefully the community will recognize us as a ‘Sports Complex' instead of just a ‘Soccer Complex,'" said Russo.
The Complex continues to strive in providing a fun and safe environment for the kids and their families. Games are played on Saturdays in May and June. Be sure to come out and support our young generation of athletes.
