American Cancer Society Honorary Starter at Martinsville Speedway

When the green flag drops to start Sunday’s Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot® 500 at Martinsville Speedway, it will not only start a race, but represent hope for cancer survivors throughout the nation.

Mark Hurley, the Senior Marketing Manager for the American Cancer Society, has been named the Honorary Starter, Speedway President Clay Campbell announced today.

“Nearly everyone has been affected by someone who has had cancer,” Campbell said. “In addition to painting our curbs pink, we feel this will bring even more attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month by having Mark serve as Honorary Stater and hopefully someday there will be a cure for this dreadful disease.”

Having a large audience will hopefully give the American Cancer Society the chance to achieve some of its goals.

“This is a huge opportunity for the organization,” Hurley said. ”This gives us a great visibility to let people know that there are thousands of volunteers around the country that are helping to raise money and helping with our mission programs to battle this disease.”

The Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot® 500 is this Sunday.

Ticket prices start at $55. A ticket in the Bill France Tower is $60.

The Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot® 500 is the first race in the Eliminator Round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Tickets to the Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot® 500  on Sunday, the Kroger 200 on Saturday and the Virginia Lottery Pole Day on Friday are on sale and can be purchased by calling 1.877.RACE.TIX or purchased online at www.martinsvillespeedway.com.
