Be Part of the Art in mARTinsville!

On a chilly day like today, it's best to stay indoors but that Six Word Projectdoesn't mean that you have to be cooped up at home the whole time! Venture out to spend time at one or more of the many museums in Martinsville-Henry County.

Piedmont Arts has several new thought-provoking exhibits open to the public and one that you are encouraged to help create.

When challenged to write a story using only six words, it is fabled that Ernest Hemingway penned the haunting missive: "For Sale: Baby shoes. Never worn." Now through February 8th, patrons to the museum can view and participate in the exhibit "Six Word Project" located in Piedmont Arts' Box Mezzanine Gallery.

Using an index card, a black Sharpie and only six words, Piedmont Arts guests are invited to write a story about something impactful in their life from the past 365 days. Then, pin it to the gallery wall for all to see.

Stop by to read the stories: some inspiring, some humorous and some that truly tug on heartstrings. What will YOU write?

Piedmont Arts is located at 215 Starling Avenue in Martinsville and admission is free daily. Stop by to see this and other exhibits including: "Old News" (a collection of the works of Johnny Selman), "Tapestry: The Joy of Creating Arts is Our Common Thread," and the Studio 107 Gallery.

If you have young children traveling with you, be sure to also spend some time in the Discovery Room where young artists can create to their hearts' content in a child-friendly environment.
