Bold Paintings by Pace-Berkeley

Vivid, large-scale paintings by Blacksburg artist Jesi Pace-Berkeley will be on display in the Piedmont Arts galleries July 21 - September 1, 2012.

Pace-Berkeley's exhibit, Subtle, features over 50 figurative and nonobjective paintings that embody her unique style - a blend of watercolor technique and traditional acrylic painting, which creates ethereal yet bold compositions.

"Depiction of voice, myriad statements and the questioning of emotion all contribute to my process," said Pace-Berkeley. "My hope is that the viewer finds a place within the white space, the negatively engaged areas, to connect my work to their personal experiences and fill in the blanks within their mind's eye."

A Shawsville native, Pace-Berkeley currently resides in Blacksburg where she teaches art at Blacksburg High School. Many of her works belong to collections, including those of Chrysler Museum, Guggenheim Gallery and The Virginia Center for Contemporary Art.

Small Narrow Pieces of a Big Wide World, featuring works by Stuart-based artist Greg Arens, will also be on display in the Lynwood Artists Gallery.
