Brad Keselowski Dominant in STP 500 Victory at Martinsville Speedway

Brad Keselowski dominated Sunday’s STP 500, en route to his second career victory at Martinsville Speedway.

Keselowski, who finished ahead of Chase Elliott, lead 446 of a possible 500 laps in Sunday afternoon’s race.

“The car was really good,” Keselowski said. “Ford worked really hard in the off season to build these cars and make them real strong, and so far, so good. Just a great day for our team. Awesome execution on pit road, and big credit to Doug Yates and all the engine stuff. Those guys worked really hard. But, just one of those days you dream of as a race car driver where you've got a great car.”

Kyle Busch, who won Saturday’s TrüNorth Global 250 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race, finished third.

“I had a nose underneath the 2 (Brad Keselowski) there in the middle of (turns) three and four and he just chopped my nose off,” Busch said. “Normally when you hit a guy, they move out of the way. Instead it seemed like my car had to move out of the way and then the 9 (Chase Elliott) got by me so we ended up finishing third. That was a lot better day then we probably should have had and we made the most of our opportunity.”

For Keselowski, the win was aided by his pit crew, who didn’t lose a single spot on any of the teams six trips to pit road.

“It’s huge,” Keselowski said. “Not losing on pit road is so important at these races and our pit crew really delivered today.”

Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top-5.

The race was slowed by seven cautions for a total of 56 laps.

Racing returns to Martinsville Speedway this fall with two race weekends.

First up is the ValleyStar Credit Union 300, NASCAR’s biggest, richest and most prestigious Late Model Stock Car race, on October 5.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series return for the First Data 500 weekend October 25-27.
