Brewster Walk to feature more than 50 craft beers plus hard ciders, wine

Beer lovers will have no shortage of choices at the Brewster Walk Craft Beer Festival and Concerts on Oct. 10 in uptown Martinsville.

Uptown’s first craft beer festival, Brewster Walk will feature more than 50 different craft beers, as well as six hard ciders, four wines and one hard root beer. It will take place on the 200 block of East Church Street, in front of the Rives Theatre.

General admission ticket holders will receive a commemorative Brewster Walk pint glass and 15 beer vouchers. Each beer voucher can be redeemed for a 3-ounce sample of any beer or cider.

“We’re really excited with the beer offerings at our first annual Brewster Walk Craft Beer Festival,” said Johnny Buck, one of the event’s organizers. “Whether you prefer dark beers, light beers, fall seasonals or hard ciders, we’ve got you covered. This is going to be a fantastic event here in uptown Martinsville, and our goal is to donate $7,500 to local charities from this one-day event.”

Brewster Walk will also feature musical performances from The Chris Duarte Group (Texas blues); Wild Ponies (Americana band led by Martinsville natives Doug & Telisha Williams); and Junto (alt-country band led by Martinsville natives Win Webster and Jay Franck).

Parkway Brewing Company will serve as Brewster Walk’s featured beer partner. The Salem-based brewery will bring eight of its craft beers to the festival, while other breweries will typically serve two or four beers apiece.

Rooster Walk Inc. was created in 2015 in memory of two Martinsville natives: Edwin “the Rooster” Penn and Walker Shank. The company’s keynote event, the Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival, takes place Memorial Day weekend, in late May, at Pop’s Farm in Axton.
