The Rives Theatre will host two big-band jazz groups tomorrow (April 30) when the Martinsville High School Jazz Band and M’City Jazz perform.
The MHS Jazz Band will start the night with a short set that begins at 7 p.m. M’City Jazz, formerly known as the Martinsville Community Jazz Ensemble, will headline the event with a set that immediately follows the high school band.
“We’re really looking forward to hosting a night of great jazz,” said Shane Pinkston, president of Arts at the Rives Theatre. “M’City Jazz boasts many of Martinsville and Henry County’s finest musicians. And the MHS Jazz Band is consistently one of the state’s best high school jazz groups. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and we look forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces from this community on the stage and in the audience.”
Tickets to the concert cost $7 in advance from Woodall’s Music, the Daily Grind or online at www.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets will be available at the doors of the theatre on Thursday night for $10 each.
Doors to the theatre will open at 6 p.m., and music will start at 7.
