Martinsville Uptown is partnering with the Martinsville-Henry County YMCA for this year’s Uptown Trick-or-Treating event. Numerous businesses in the Uptown district will be giving out treats to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. The YMCA will have games set up in the Bridge Street parking lot. Complimentary inflatables will also be set up thanks to sponsor, Serenity Cabinets & Millwork.
Trick-or-treating hours are from 4pm-7pm on Saturday, October 31st. Treats will be given to children, ages 12 and under, who are in costume.
Uptown businesses developed this idea as a safe and friendly alternative to neighborhood trick-or-treating, as many households choose not to participate in this children’s ritual anymore. Uptown merchants would like to pick up where others have left off, by inviting the local children into their “neighborhood” of businesses.
For safety precautions, Church Street and Main Street will be closed from Bridge Street to Lester Street during the 4pm-7pm event time.
Various shops and restaurants are offering Halloween specials that night as well.
