Philpott Marina Recognized as Best New Facility
Thursday November 19, 2015
The Philpott Marina has been recognized as the Best New Facility in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The award was presented to Henry County last week at the 61st Annual Conference of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society.
“The Marina offers a unique recreation opportunity to our citizens that was not previously available,” said Henry County Parks and Recreation Director Roger Adams. “We are honored to receive this award.”
The conference is education focused and provides an opportunity for recreation and park professionals to discuss areas of common interest as well as receive continuing education units. Highlighting each year’s conference is a formal presentation of awards. This prestigious state-wide program honors individuals, agencies and organizations throughout Virginia who have demonstrated excellence in several areas during the previous calendar year. Almost 100 applications were submitted vying for awards in 13 different categories, including Best New Program, Best New Special Event, Best New Facility, and Best in Media and Marketing. Judged by a jury of its peers, the Society paid tribute to:
