Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell presented the Charity League of Martinsville and Henry County with a check for $3,000 in recognition of their volunteer work during the Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot® 500 race weekend.

The Charity League helped out with the My Martinsville and Green Flag Experience fan events.

“The Charity League is not only a big help to us, but they are a big help to the community,” Campbell said. “It’s great knowing that there are such dedicated people working to improve the lives of everyone in Martinsville and Henry County.”

The Charity League of Martinsville and Henry County started in 1931 and is comprised of a network of over 400 active and sustainer women.

The donation from the speedway will go to help out families during the holiday season.

“The partnership the Charity League of Martinsville and Henry County has formed with the Martinsville Speedway and Clay Campbell has been such a blessing,” Charity League President Courtney McFarling said.

“This year money raised through this partnership will help fund one of many programs such as the Brighter Christmas Program which we started a few years ago. The Brighter Christmas Program  provides gifts to the older children who have aged out of programs such as Christmas Cheer and Salvation Army making it possible for every child to have at least one gift under the tree on Christmas morning.”

NASCAR returns to Martinsville Speedway April 1-3, 2016 for the STP 500 race weekend.

The weekend starts on Friday, April 1, with Virginia Lottery Pole Day and the Camping World Truck Series will return on April 2.

The STP 500 is on April 3. The race will mark the first short-track on the schedule and is the first race back on the east coast after the “west-coast” swing.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 877.RACE.TIX or online at www.martinsvillespeedway.com.
