Area to Host NCBA’s Division I Regional Tournament Through 2018

For the fifth consecutive year, Hooker Field in Martinsville, Virginia will host the Division I Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament for the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA). The double-elimination tournament will be held May 13-15. This event will determine which team travels to the NCBA World Series in Paducah, Kentucky.
Four college club baseball teams will participate in the tournament. While playoffs are still going on, officials from the NCBA have reported that teams from University of Ohio and East Carolina University of North Carolina will play in the DI tournament. All athletes will stay locally at the Quality-Dutch Inn of Collinsville, which was selected by the NCBA as their host hotel.
Games for the tournament will be played Friday, May 13 at 4 pm and 7 pm, Saturday, May 14 at 9 am, 12 pm and 3 pm and Sunday, May 15 at 9 am. A tie-breaker game will be played at 12 pm if needed. A rain date has been set for Monday, May 16 in the event of an extended delay in the tournament schedule.
Admission is $5 for Friday and Sunday, and $10 on Saturday. Children five and under are free with a paying adult. The Martinsville Community Recreation Association will sell concessions as fans will not be allowed to bring outside food or beverages into the stadium. All proceeds from ticket sales and concessions will benefit Hooker Field. The Martinsville-Henry County EDC’s Tourism Division will sell area souvenirs.
This event is a partnership between the NCBA, the Martinsville-Henry County EDC’s Tourism Division, the City of Martinsville and the Martinsville Community Recreation Association.
According to Jennifer Doss, Director of Tourism with the EDC. “This event has been a great success for our community by bringing in guests from all over the Mid-Atlantic United States each year, and we’re excited to announce that contracts have been signed with the NCBA to continue this partnership through 2018.”
