Jazz up dinnertime with the Patriot Players from Patrick Henry Community College on Thursday, June 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Wild Magnolia in Martinsville. The cast of this summer’s production, The Color Purple, will perform jazz, R&B, and Motown while serving.

This month’s singing fundraiser is themed “Harpo’s Juke Joint” after the establishment in the story where Shug sang during its opening night. All tips to the singing wait staff support the Patriot Players–PHCC’s theater troupe that offers local students and community members the opportunity to gain onstage experience while learning about the theater profession. To make a reservation of eight or more people for “Harpo’s Juke Joint” call (276) 666-6666. Wild Magnolia is located at Patrick Henry Mall at 730 E. Church St. in Martinsville.

This year alone, Patriot Players and Wild Magnolia have teamed up to raise approximately $2000 during monthly fundraisers. “We’re grateful to Wild Magnolia for generously allowing us to come and do this event.” Pendleton said. "All you have to do is come and eat, and you’re supporting the performing arts and our locally owned businesses.”

The Patriot Players’ rendition of The Color Purple is July 29-30 and August 4-7 with tickets going on sale July 1. For more information about the show and upcoming events visit www.phccpatriotplayers.com or follow the PHCC Patriot Players on Facebook.
