The holiday season is upon us and the feeling of holiday cheer can be found throughout Martinsville-Henry County. From small town tree lightings and caroling to big performances and visits with Santa, this season is a special one to spend some time with us in MHC! In fact, you are invited to enjoy the following activities (and more):  

Ridgeway Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting | Main St., Ridgeway

Join the Town of Ridgeway for their Christmas parade and tree lighting. This family hit begins with the town Christmas parade, which will start on the Main Street bridge and proceed down Main St. in Ridgeway. Immediately following the parade, the community tree lighting will be held at the Ridgeway Town Park. Along with the tree lighting, participants can enjoy holiday music, hot chocolate, cookies, and pictures with Santa himself. (12/2/2017)

SPCA’s Pictures with Santa | 132 Joseph Martin Hwy., Martinsville

If you are still looking for that perfect photo for your Christmas card, make your way to the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA to have your children’s and your pets picture taken with Santa Claus! (12/2/2017)

The 2017 Patriot Player Christmas Spectacular | 645 Patriot Ave., Martinsville 

Take some time out of your busy holiday schedule and plan an evening with the Patrick Henry Community College’s Patriot Players. The 2017 Patriot Player Christmas Spectacular is an exciting Christmas revue that is jammed packed full of holiday themed music. This show is a perfect holiday outing for the whole family. Fieldale Community Caroling & Tree Lighting | 70 Marshall Way, Fieldale

The Fieldale community would like to invite you to an evening of group caroling, followed by the lighting of the Fieldale Community Christmas tree at the Fieldale Community Recreation Center. Experience small town tradition in the historic town of Fieldale. (12/9/17)

Light Up the Night 5K | 3 Starling Ave., Martinsville

Get ready to Light Up the Night! This 5K race is a family oriented event that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!  Runners and walkers are encouraged to dress in your wackiest Christmas attire or tackiest sweater and meet us at the Uptown Farmers Market for a cool night run. Bring your glow sticks and your favorite holiday attire and get ready to go. Throughout the night there will be holiday music, Christmas lights, and tons of positive energy. (12/9/17) 

Roanoke Symphony Holiday Pops | 351 Commonwealth Blvd., Martinsville

Piedmont Arts on Stage presents the Roanoke Symphony Holiday Pops at the Martinsville High School Auditorium. Celebrating twelve years of holiday magic, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and Chorus delights audiences with holiday favorites and will feature special guest vocalists: Michale Lynche and Smith River Singers. Smith River Singers Winter Choral Concert | 23 Starling Ave., Martinsville

If you love holiday music, you will love spending the evening hearing your favorites sung by the Smith River Singers. Directed by Pamela Randall, the choral group will perform both classic and contemporary Christmas music. The concert is two weeks before Christmas and will fill you with enough cheer to last until then! (12/11/17)

New Year’s Eve Celebration at Fairy Stone State Park | 967 Fairystone Lake Dr., Stuart

Looking for a way to ring in the New Year? Mark your calendar for the New Year’s Celebration at Fairy Stone State Park. This year’s celebration will take place at Fayerdale Hall and will include a DJ, finger foods, and even a disco ball. There will even be a New Year’s toast at midnight with punch and spiced cider.
