Back, by popular demand, after her Rooster Walk 10 performance! Kat Wright, whose voice is both sultry and dynamic, delicate yet powerful; gritty but highly emotive and nuanced, has been described as a young Bonnie Raitt meets Amy Winehouse. Add to that voice enough stage presence to tame lions, and the combination of feline femininity proves immediately enchanting. There's soul flowing in and out of her rock n roll with a serpentine seduction. Some of soul music's sweet, grand dames belt, shout, seethe, and succumb, while Wright sings gently like a heartache's apology. It's funky in spots and beautiful all over. And it hurts a little, like it should.
This concert is presented by Sovah Health. Their Martinsville facility is a full service, acute-care hospital that has been at the heart of Martinsville, Henry County and the surrounding region since it opened in June 1970. Formerly known as Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County, Martinsville united with Danville Regional Medical Center in 2017 to form Sovah Health - a regional delivery healthcare system with two campuses. Today, the Martinsville campus employs over 700 people, has over 100 physicians and allied health professionals and provides over 22 medical specialties.
