"We're extremely honored to have Governor McAuliffe serve as our honorary starter," said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. "Having four Sprint Cup races in the Commonwealth, he understands the significant economic impact they have. I'm looking forward to seeing him wave the green flag to get the race started. I'm sure he'll have a great time."

As honorary starter, McAuliffe will wave the green flag from atop the starter's stand to start the STP 500. In addition the governor will attend the driver's meeting prior to the race and spend time visiting with teams in the pit area.
