Dippers Advances to Final Round of Culinary Madness

**Update** - After four weeks of competition, Dippers Ice Cream was named the Culinary Madness Champion after competing among 76 dishes from around the state of Virginia. Through public online voting, their Peanut Butter Bang Sundae won with 70% of the final votes. Congrats to Dippers!
After four weeks of competition, Dippers has made it to the finale of the state-wide challenge with their Peanut Butter Bang Sundae. Dippers is normally closed on Monday but will be open on Monday April 28th from 2-4 p.m. for a special pep rally event. The public can try free samples of their Peanut Butter Bang Sundae and meet the Dippers staff.
The Virginia Tourism Corporation, creators of the Culinary Madness Challenge, will be at the celebration with the Virginia is for Lovers truck for photo ops and they will also have giveaways, prizes and corn hole.
At the beginning of the contest, Dippers Ice Cream was featured among 76 dishes from around the state of Virginia and through public online voting they have made it through four rounds of voting to the finals. Their submission was the Peanut Butter Bang Sundae which consists of a freshly baked chocolate cake cup filled with homemade Peanut Butter & Brownie Explosion ice cream and topped with homemade hot fudge and peanut butter sauces.
In the final round, Dippers' Peanut Butter Bang Sundae is in a head-to-head match against Nana's Buttermilk Fried Chicken from the Cyprus Grille in Hampton, Virginia. The final round of voting will end at midnight on Monday, April 28th and the winner will be crowned the "Virginia is for Lovers Culinary Madness Champion" on April 29th.
According to Jennifer Doss, Director of Tourism for Martinsville-Henry County, "It has been exciting to follow Dippers' progress through this contest. Being able to hold their own while competing against businesses from much larger cities is quite an accomplishment for Dippers and it showcases Martinsville-Henry County and the surrounding region as an up-and-coming destination for foodies to visit."
Area residents are encouraged to stop by Dippers Ice Cream on Monday from 2-4 p.m. to celebrate and try the Peanut Butter Bang Sundae. The business is located at 4970 Greensboro Road in Ridgeway. Votes may be cast by visiting www.virginia.org/culinarymadness/.
