Feel-Good Fridays - April 10th

We all love MHC and we love a feel-good story. This week’s story features Patrick Henry Community College, Solid Stone Fabrics, Mollie's Originals, Eastman, Green Living Market and Martinsville UpTown Rotary Club.

Neighbors helping neighbors - that's what this is all about! PHCC has mobilized their 3-D printers to make face shields for healthcare workers. "With hospitals around the nation running low on personal protective equipment, we knew we had to do something to help. The Fab Lab at PHCC's Thomas P Dalton IDEA Center is becoming a face shield production facility with 12 printers running almost non-stop. PHCC is doing what we can to support our community during this crisis!" says Matthew Ratliff, Coordinator of Community Development Programs.

Eastman provided the college with 450 lbs. of plastic so they can finish making the 3-D printed face shields that will help keep our local healthcare providers safe as they stand on the front lines against the COVID-19 Pandemic. Click HERE for the story.

Solid Stone is making gowns, face masks and face shields for medical workers. Click the HERE for the full story.

Mollie's Originals owner, Sharon Sleeper, and a nurse for 39 years, retooled her sewing shop uptown to make medical-grade masks for hospitals and nursing homes. Click HERE for the full story.

More local feel-good stories related to supporting our healthcare workers are:

Green Living Market made 530 mask clips for MHC healthcare workers. They delivered them to Livys Ice Cream shop and Fenderz Drive-In for local pickup. FREE - No purchase necessary! Click HERE for the full story.

Martinsville UpTown Rotary Club - Thanks to the quick action by one of the members, Jennifer A. Reis, our club has donated 64 masks so far to Sovah in Martinsville, Southern Area Agency on Aging, and Piedmont Community Services! In addition to continuing her duties as an art professor, Jennifer continues to sew masks and create kits for others to join in the effort.

Together, our community is rising up to support and protect each other!
