Feel-Good Fridays - May 29th

We all love MHC and we love a feel-good story. This week’s story features MHC Graduates

Locals are coming together to support the area's 2020 Seniors by showing random acts of kindness to make sure the seniors receive the recognition they most certainly deserve.

Several of the local high schools are placing senior yard signs at the homes of the students to recognize their soon to be graduating accomplishment. Bassett High School is displaying the names of all the graduating seniors on the LED marquee at the school's entrance, and Martinsville City Schools are featuring graduating seniors on Facebook each day leading up to graduation. All of the local high schools are making certain they do special acts of goodwill for the graduating class of 2020 this year such as providing seniors with a drive thru breakfast, leaving the field lights and scoreboard on on Fridays from 7-9 pm in honor of the 2020 class, and the New College Institute Baldwin Building hosted a drive thru scholarship award ceremony for local Martinsville-Henry County seniors.

One local business, Rives S. Brown, wrote a Facebook post offering their business as a backdrop for prom photos. "Dear Parents of Prom 2020 in MHC: We at Rives S Brown encourage you to use our office as a backdrop or staging area for 2020 Prom pictures, we know that the proms are on hold or cancelled but if you need an area for pictures we love to have the Grey Lady as a backdrop!"

Another locally owned business, Sweet Cakes Bakery, decided to give away a Sweet Treat box of goodies and a gift card to each Graduate that wears their cap and gown to the bakery - in a drive thru style.

Checkout the Facebook pages of MCPS and HCPS to see all the ways the school systems are honoring their graduates.
