Friday: People's Blues of Richmond at Pop's Farm

Rooster Walk and Deschutes Brewery are joining forces to present a concert by the People’s Blues of Richmond on Friday, June 30th on the Pine Grove Stage at Pop’s Farm. Local rock band The Delics will open. Tickets $10 adv / $15 dos, available at the Daily Grind and Rising Sun Breads. Gates open 7:30 pm. 

Camping is not available on-site, but there is a special $65 room rate at the Dutch Inn that includes complimentary breakfast. Feel free to bring lawn chairs or blankets! We'll have a BBQ food vendor. No outside alcohol will be permitted. Parking is free.

People’s Blues of Richmond brings a carnival-like mayhem to their dark, blues-infused psychedelia.People’s Blues of Richmond co-founders and lifelong friends Beavers and Matt Volkes (bass, backing vox) began playing music together in college as a way to grieve the loss of a mutual friend. People’s Blues of Richmond’s lineup finally solidified in 2013 with the addition of friend and powerhouse drummer Neko Williams (son of Drummie Zeb of legendary reggae band The Wailers). After years together, on the road and off, the three are more than just bandmates, they’re brothers. It’s a camaraderie that show in their music and beyond. “No matter what, we look out for each other,” Volkes says. “If I have a sandwich, Tim and Neko get a bite, too. We’re all in this together.”

The sound of The Delics can be best described as 60’s garage rock with strong blues soul running through its veins, along with early American and British punk influences thrown in for good measure! Certain to deliver a impactful performance, the band perform an assortment of their own high-energy original music along with a few covers, which are usually adaptations of songs by bands they feel are key influences to their collective sound.

Started by Angus Hobson back in 2012, the band’s lineup solidified and coalesced into a sum greater than its parts in 2016. With vocalist Preston Painter, drummer Austin Gilbert, bassist Scout Wiles and guitarists Matt Bryant and Angus Hobson at the helm, the band digs deep to deliver honest truth and raw power together through their music. The Delics are not afraid to inject a little psychedelic throwback, edge and experimental touches into their arrangements from time to time, hinting of The Doors or The Velvet Underground in feel, if not in appearance.
