Getting to Know MHC

Next Tuesday, December 8, the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation’s (EDC) Tourism Division will host “Get to Know MHC” a FAM (familiarization) tour of area amenities that is open to the public. The theme of this particular tour is “The History & Culture of Bassett, VA.”

Tour participants will spend half a day visiting a variety of historic locations, cultural destinations and areas for outdoor recreation. These various stops along the tour combine to exhibit the many sites that make the town of Bassett one the many treasured locales in Martinsville-Henry County.

The purpose of the tour series is to educate residents and visitors about the many ways to have fun in record time in Martinsville-Henry County. Each free tour will be on a different theme and will feature unique destinations and amenities. The series will also offer individuals that participate the opportunity to become more knowledgeable about the community so that they may spread the word about the many opportunities in MHC.

In addition to the “Get to Know MHC” series, the EDC’s Tourism Division also offers the Certified Tourism Ambassador program. The program is designed so that those receiving certification can develop knowledge of area amenities and exceed expectations when interacting and assisting visitors to the community. Attending a “Get to Know MHC” FAM tour is a part of that certification process.
