Homestead to Offer Hiking Club

The success of the hiking classes in the College for Older Adults has led Reynolds Homestead senior program manager Lisa Martin to explore the possibility of offering a hiking club.

“Several participants have mentioned that they would like to have a hiking group that could meet and explore the trails in and around Patrick County,” Martin said. “And we’ve had teens and working adults mention that they would like to have the opportunity as well.”

To gauge the interest for such a group, the Reynolds Homestead, assisted by avid hiker Louise Koslofsky, will hold an organizational meeting on Saturday, January 11 at 2:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting will be to determine if there is enough interest to form a club, and then to look for participants who would like to plan and organize the planned monthly hikes.

Anyone who is interested in attending, or who is interested in participating but cannot attend the January 11 meeting, should call the Homestead at 276-694-7181 to register. The group would be looking to begin hikes in March.
