Jarekus Singleton to Bring Electric Blues From Mississippi

At just 30 years old, Jarekus Singleton is a musical trailblazer with a bold vision for the future of the blues. Springing from the same Mississippi soil as Charley Patton, Muddy Waters and B.B. King, Singleton’s cutting-edge sound—equally rooted in rap, rock and blues traditions—is all his own. He melds hip-hop wordplay, rock energy and R&B grooves with contemporary and traditional blues, turning audiences of all ages into devoted fans. With his untamed guitar licks and strong, soulful voice effortlessly moving from ferocious and funky to slow and steamy to smoking hot, Singleton is a fresh, electrifying bluesman bursting at the seams with talent.

Originally started as a trio, Turkey Feather Get Together was named by an escapee from a retirement home who whilst hoofing it swatted at front man Griffin Haley’s feathered hat and exclaimed “he knows he’s a turkey.” Playing an array of music from funk, rockabilly, blues, roots music, as well as their own originals, TFGT was formed by former Left Hip Pocket members Austin Janey on keys and Griffin Haley on guitar and vocals. After a degree of lineup changes the band formed the rest of its rhythm section from members of other local groups, Willie “Lil Bill” Greene being the drummer for The Les Moore Trio, and Jeff Scearce on bass from The Fatz Band and Natural Ingredients.
