Little Free Libraries Project

Henry County Parks and Recreation has partnered with Boy Scout Troop 168 and Scout Zachary Margrave on his Eagle Scout Project. Zachary and his troop built and installed four "Little Free Libraries" at area parks.

The mission of the Little Free Library Project is to promote literacy and the love of reading. This idea was started in 2009 in Wisconsin and today there are about 15,000 Little Free Libraries Worldwide.

Zachary and his troop installed the libraries at Jack Dalton Park, Fieldale Park, the Doyle Street Access on the Dick and Willie Trail and at Philpott Marina. The Boy Scout Troop 168 is chartered by the United Methodist Church in Ridgeway and Dwayne Adams is the scoutmaster.

People are encouraged to take a book from one of these libraries and enjoy it while at the park or take home with them and replace with other books. Anyone wanting to donate books for the libraries may drop those off at the parks and recreation office in the Henry County Administration Building.

Please contact parks and recreation at (276) 634-4640 for additional information.
