LOVEwork Coming to Martinsville-Henry County

On April 24-27, Martinsville-Henry County Virginia will be the temporary home to one of the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s four traveling LOVEwork sculptures.

The 16’ by 7’ sculpture will be installed on the New College Institute’s Moss Street lawn in front of the Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center Friday afternoon. The oversized letters spelling LOVE are to remind everyone that “love is at the heart of every Virginia vacation.”

Residents and visitors are encouraged to come take their photo with the LOVEwork and post it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtags #LOVEVA and #VisitMartinsville. While on site they can stop in the Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center to discover things to do and see in Martinsville-Henry County and the entire Commonwealth of Virginia.

The LOVEwork’s arrival is in time to celebrate the Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center’s Open House on April 25, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to the LOVEwork, the event will feature free samples of ice cream from Dippers Homemade Ice Cream, appearances by Bobber the Water Safety Dog of Philpott Lake, and an appearance by the AutosByNelson.com late model stock car, which is driven by Timothy Peters. Balloons, prizes, coupons and area information will be given out throughout the day. The open house will go on rain or shine.

The Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center is located inside the New College Institute building at the corner of Fayette and Moss Streets in Uptown Martinsville. Convenient access is available from the Moss Street parking lot. Call 276.632.8006 for additional information.
