Martinsville Baseball & Sports Assumes Control of Mustangs

The city of Martinsville and Martinsville Baseball & Sports have reached a management agreement for the Martinsville Mustangs during the 2020 Coastal Plain League season.

Martinsville Baseball & Sports is headed by High Point, Thomasville and Wilson Tobs President Greg Suire. A 20-year management veteran of the Coastal Plain League, Suire has also overseen the Wilson Tobs for the last nine seasons.

"Our organization is very excited to become a part of the Martinsville community," Suire said. "We currently have two vibrant franchises in extremely passionate baseball communities and I look forward to experiencing this same energy in Martinsville and Henry County."

Entering their 16th season of CPL membership, the Mustangs have become an integral entertainment and recreational component of southwest Virginia.

"Our organizations have always been centered around the growth of baseball in our respective communities and the expansion of fan entertainment and recreational opportunities," Suire said. "From day one, there will be a renewed focus on the Mustangs emerging as a leader in quality of life, baseball growth and economic development."

"Bridge building and team development have always been a core component of our leadership mission," Suire added. "So as we launch this movement, I hope all of Martinsville and Henry County join the Mustangs' quest to energize southwest Virginia at Hooker Field."
