Martinsville-Henry County Gets a Fresh New Look to Promote Tourism

VisitMartinsville.com, Martinsville-Henry County’s official tourism website, has been upgraded. The rebuilt site was launched this past week and features a fresh, modern look with several new additions, including the new Trip Planner and a homepage video that depicts numerous ways that visitors can enjoy MHC.

The itinerary builder will assist those who are already visiting as well as those who are planning a visit. Martinsville-Henry County has many lures that may have already piqued the interest of potential visitors, but with the itinerary builder, their trip planning becomes even easier, and customizable. Visitors can add as many shops, attractions, restaurants, and special events as they want, and a choice for lodging. This itinerary can then be printed, emailed, or shared to social media.

The new website, built by Momenta, incorporates fresh photography, video content and social media to create a media-rich environment for visitors to explore. The site is responsive, meaning that pages resize automatically so visitors can enjoy the same media-rich content on their computer, tablets, and smart phones.

According to Beth Stinnett, Tourism & Film Office Coordinator for the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation, “In this digital era, it’s crucial that VisitMartinsville has a strong online presence that is both attractive and visitor-friendly. As the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for Martinsville and Henry County, our website serves to showcase all of the attractions and amenities that make us a unique place to visit. With the added features and enhancements to VisitMartinsville.com, we hope to see an increase in visitation to our area and increased satisfaction in the overall guest experience.”

VisitMartinsville.com is used by more than 85,000 unique visitors each year with over 208,000 page views. Online visitation was up 5 percent in 2020 as compared to the previous years’ traffic. Stinnett added that, “This is a good sign that people are ready to make plans to visit our area.”

VisitMartinsville received one of the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC)’s Recovery Marketing Leverage Program grants to pay for the website redesign.

The website still features the popular community calendar so that visitors, and locals, can browse all upcoming events such as musical performances or sporting events.

The website even has an area specific for local businesses. Under the Connect section, business owners can learn about resources available to the local tourism industry including marketing services, professional development, and funding opportunities.
