"I always enjoy the [On Stage!] shows that Piedmont Arts offers at Martinsville High School. Uptown Martinsville also has a lot of events that I enjoy including, TGIF, Music Shows at the Rives and performances at the Black Box Theatre."

Hot Tip: Theatre Work's Black Box has now expanded their programming to offer live Improv Shows throughout the year.  Stay tuned for upcoming show dates!

Where do you take friends and family when they come to town?
"My friends and my husband's friends travel to Martinsville regularly to attend races at the Martinsville Speedway. We always take them to Checkered Pig BBQ (formerly called Pigs R Us) to eat and get them a biscuit from Biscuitville in the mornings, drive them up to Philpott Lake to see the dam, and then drive down Mulberry Street to show them how much less the houses cost compared to their homes in Northern Virginia."

Hot Tip: Checkered Pig was recently named the Best Barbecue Restaurant in Southwestern Virginia!

What are your top Martinsville-Henry County dining spots?

"I like Daily Grind Cafe' because the quality of the edibles and coffee is great for the price and the service and environment are warm and inviting. I think that Wild Magnolia is an underknown eatery in the city because of its tucked-away location but the food is excellent (best burgers in town) and I always found it to be a great place to have a conversation while having a nice meal. I especially like to patronize these places because they are locally owned and operated and offer distinctive variety and choice for food and drink not found in the chain restaurants."
