Meet Brenda Feeny

Meet a Martinsville Insider, Brenda Feeny.  Brenda, a sewing and quilting enthusiast, has owned The Sewing Studio in Martinsville for 20 years. She takes her love for quilting all over the country to various conventions to both showcase our area and get inspiration for her store. The Sewing Studio was recently named the "Best Quilting Supplies Store" In Southwest Virginia by Virginia Living magazine. Come check out all the neat fabrics and classes she offers to give you the best quilting experience possible.  Here are Brenda's tips for enjoying Martinsville-Henry County, Virginia.  

 What places do your kids like to visit?

"I like to take my grandson to the Smith River Sports Complex to climb on the outdoor slides and wobbly seats.  He is almost three and he will climb until his legs shake and he laughs each time." 

Where do you go to enjoy Martinsville-Henry County's arts-and-entertainment scene?

"Every other year, Piedmont Arts has a quilt show. The quilts are beautiful!" 

What is the most interesting tidbit about The Sewing Studio?

"This coming year in July 2012, we will once again be a part of the Virginia Quilt Shop Rally.  We are 1 of 6 quilt shops in Southside and Southwest Virginia that participate and we will be giving away a Babylock Sewing Machine." 

What are your top Martinsville-Henry County dining spots and why?

"Hugo's has great grilled chicken salad and has different lunch specials each day, Checkered Pig (formerly known as Pigs R Us) has good BBQ and cobblers, and Mi Ranchito has the best soup!"
