Meet a Martinsville Insider, Carol Zimoski. Originally from Marion Virginia, Carol has lived in Martinsville since 1984. She is the Retail Coordinator at The Artisan Center on Church Street in Uptown Martinsville. Carol has a love of the arts and in fact is a juried artisan herself of The Artisan Center and works with Fibers such as quilting. Where do you go to enjoy sports and recreation?

I enjoy walking and enjoy the outdoors at Jack Dalton Park, the Dick & Willie Passage Rail Trail or the Smith River Sports Complex.

What's the best part of raising a family in Martinsville-Henry County?

There are so many attractions surrounding us that it's easy to find things to do and places to go that the whole family can enjoy.

What is the most interesting tidbit about The Artisan Center?

The Artisan Center is a program of Patrick Henry Community College. We sell the most unique and hand-crafted decor in Martinsville. "Shop Local" takes on a whole new meaning since all items are made by local artisans.

Where is your favorite place to shop?

I enjoy exploring local antique stores like the Cellar Chest. There's also Junkbabies and Fido's Finds in Uptown. You'll always find a fun day of shopping.
