Meet Pat Ross

Meet a Martinsville Insider, Pat Ross.  Pat has been with the Bassett Historical Center for 30 years and just by talking to her you can tell she has a passion for history. The Bassett Historical Center is known all over the country and Pat feels that patrons from almost every state are represented within a year with exception of Hawaii. The center has also served many international visitors as well. Patrons from Paris and Aruba have recently visited the center. She loves Martinsville-Henry County and has always enjoyed living here and having the sense of knowing everyone.  Here are Pat's tips for enjoying Martinsville-Henry County, Virginia.

What places do your kids like to visit and why?

"My husband, Paul, and I really enjoy walking along the Dick and Willie trail with our daughters."

What is the most interesting tidbit about the Bassett Historical Center?

"There's always something new at Bassett Historical Center.  We get in so many neat items from not only locals but travelers from all over the country.  New things are found here every day which is the most interesting because you are always discovering more history.  The two most interesting artifacts we have here are an 1850's Chickering piano, which was the first piano in Henry County and the oldest item is a 1728 woven basket from Germany.

What are your top Martinsville-Henry County dining spots and why?

"Paul [my husband] loves eating at Wild Magnolia with his classmates.  I love eating at Applebee's and Third Bay Cafe; I have many food allergies and these places have menus to accommodate my needs."
