Martinsville Speedway to Host 26th Annual Christmas Toy Drive

Martinsville Speedway will hold the 26th Annual Christmas Toy Drive on Friday, Dec. 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The annual event will welcome the greater Martinsville region to donate an unwrapped toy or $20 for the opportunity to drive laps around the iconic track in their personal vehicles. The Christmas Toy Drive will benefit the Grace Network of Martinsville and Henry County.

Piedmont Arts' third annual Christmas Tree Lighting is now a virtual event. The tree will be lit during an online ceremony on Thursday, December 3, 2020, starting at 5 pm. Watch from the comfort of home as the Art Garden Christmas tree lights up the night.

Patrick Henry Community College’s performing troupe, the Patriot Players are bringing live theater back with You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. Theater lovers and Charlie Brown fans can catch the live show in-person at PHCC’s Drive-In Theater or virtually via a live stream at 7PM on November 19 – 21 and at 2PM on Sunday, November 22.

New Art Classes at Piedmont Arts Nov. 2020

Explore new art forms, mediums and techniques with a fresh slate of art classes at Piedmont Arts. The museum is offering in-person classes for a limited number of attendees, as well as a new virtual watercolor class that will take place online via Zoom. Social distancing and masks are required at all in-person classes.

It was all or nothing Sunday for Chase Elliott at Martinsville Speedway in the penultimate NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race, Xfinity 500. In a “must-win” situation to advance to next weekend’s Championship 4 to battle for the Cup title, the driver of the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro rooted his way to the lead with 44 laps remaining and pulled away for a 6.577-second victory.

Martinsville Speedway will recognize the historic accomplishments of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson by starting an annual scholarship, Jimmie Johnson Champion’s Award. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student at one of the Martinsville-Henry County Public High Schools.
