Music Night with The Country Boys and More at the Spencer Penn Centre

Music Night 

Music Night at Spencer-Penn Centre is Friday, June 9.  Doors open at 5pm. Open MIC is at 5:30, bring your instrument and join the group.  At 6:20, Lawson Creek Grass will take the stage for some great bluegrass music. The Country Boys will be on at 7:40. It’s sure to be a great night of music and dancing.  Dust off your dancing shoes, grab a friend and come hungry. Concessions will be available.  A $4 donation is requested for admission. The Country Boys is a traditional bluegrass group from Patrick County, VA and Surry County, NC. The Country Boys originated more than 30 years ago with founding member and leader, Donald Clifton still in the band.  In addition to Donald on guitar and vocals, Billy Hawks on Fiddle; Tim Bowman on banjo on vocals; Nick Goad on mandolin; Doug Joyce on bass; and Johnny Joyce on guitar and vocals.

Clogging Class

Have you ever wanted to be one of the folks dancing at our Music Night? Join us on Tuesdays here at the Centre and learn to clogg.  Marla Perry, a member of the Old Dominion Cloggers, will begin a clogging class Tuesday, July 11, 18, 27, 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Learn the basic clogging steps and then join us on Music Night to dance.  Cost of the class is $20/members & $25/non-members. Call the Centre to register, 276-957-5757.

Basket Making Class

Need a gift for someone special, or just want to try your hand at making a basket? Join us at the Spencer-Penn Centre on June 17, 9:15am to noon for our basket making class.  Hazel Coleman will be the instructor. This is a great class and has been growing each month.  The cost of the class: $25 to $45.00 depending on the basket. Call the Centre to pre-register, 276-957-5757 or 276-957-1521.
