Old Southern Moonshine Revival, Tenured Soul, Added to Turn 5 Lineup

Two more bands have joined the bill for Rooster Walk's Turn 5 Concert Series, which will take place Oct. 25-26 beside Martinsville Speedway during NASCAR race weekend.
Old Southern Moonshine Revival (OSMR), a young country act rapidly gaining popularity, and Tenured Soul, a Martinsville-based blues/rock group, will perform on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Turn 5. Both bands will be warming up the crowd for the weekend headliner, the nationally touring Georgia group Blackberry Smoke.
Since forming in their hometown of High Point, N.C., in 2006, OSMR has shipped music and merchandise to more than 40 countries worldwide, and the band boasts more than 45,000 friends, fans and followers online. Their modern country sound has been influenced by the likes of the Black Crowes, Eric Church, Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Keith Urban and others.
"We're really excited about bringing OSMR's catchy brand of country music to the fans at Turn 5," said William Baptist, a co-founder of Rooster Walk, a community nonprofit. "They have a huge following throughout North Carolina and the Southeast, and I know they'll put on an awesome show."
Founded about a year ago by Martinsville residents Steve Martin and Ryan Nunn, Tenured Soul is a soulful acoustic act that features an intriguing blend of classic blues and rock along with today's best rock and country hits. They will perform with a full backing band at Turn 5.
"One of the cool things about Turn 5 is the chance to showcase an awesome local band, like Tenured Soul, to the out-of-town race fans who come to Martinsville Speedway," said Baptist. "This is a really good group that's going places. We're thrilled to have them onboard."
Blackberry Smoke, which recently performed on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, will headline the weekend of music at the outdoor Turn 5 concert venue, which is located at 340 Clover Road, within easy walking distance of Martinsville Speedway and its fan campgrounds. Popular Virginia rock band the Worx will top the show bill on Friday, Oct. 25th.
Two more bands playing Friday, Oct. 25, will be announced in the coming weeks.
A two-night pass for all six bands will cost just $20 if purchased in advance. Single-day tickets will cost $10 for Friday and $15 for Saturday. Tickets are now on sale at www.roosterwalk.com or www.brownpapertickets.com. Physical tickets will be available in local stores soon.
Rooster Walk Inc. is dedicated to promoting music, art and education in Martinsville and Henry County. In addition to the Turn 5 concerts, the organization puts on the Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival each Memorial Day weekend. Between Turn 5 and the music festival, organizers have donated more than $40,000 to local and regional charities over the past five years.
