Patriot Player's Open Season With Doyle and Debbie Show

Have you ever heard local teacher Max Hall yodel with a deep country twang? Have you seen the owner of Collinsville’s Sears Hometown Store, Brittney Palmer, transformed into a gaudy, gallopin’ country star with a mile-high hairdo? This local duo will be transformed into country music stars September 10 – 13 at the Rives Theater in the Patriot Player’s rendition of The Doyle and Debbie Show.  Experience a tribute to country music and Southern living in a way that has never before been showcased in this community.

“We’re the most over the top country duo you’ve seen times ten,” Hall explained.  Hall and Palmer, who formally played spouses Dwayne & Doralee in 9 to 5: The Musical, will make sparks fly again amid a rhinestone and fringe-decked battle of the sexes.  Doyle and Debbie bring to the stage a wide-open, satire deep-fried with Southern humor that will leave any Southerner saying “bless their hearts.”

“I think this show is an opportunity to laugh at ourselves,” remarked Palmer who was born and raised in the South. As a true satire, The Doyle & Debbie Show is rowdy and idiotic, yet it engenders a reverence for country music and a deeper contemplation of traditional Southern themes. Director Devin Pendleton describes the show as “a tacky yet triumphant homage of a broken-down country duo.”  He explains that although the show “spread[s] the love and tradition of country music,” it’s a tribute every type of person can enjoy. Hee and haw over the red-neck foibles of the rowdy duo at the Rives Theatre located at 215 E Church Street in Martinsville, VA.

“We’re havin’ a big ol’ time,” Hall drawled in his Doyle voice, which he frequently falls into just for kicks.
