Paul Menard To Parade Through Uptown Martinsville on Tuesday

Martinsville-Henry County Visitor CenterBefore Paul Menard makes his first appearance in The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, he will make an appearance in Uptown Martinsville on Tuesday.

Menard, who drives the No. 27 Menards Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, will take part in a parade, a moderated question-and-answer session and a “happy hour” style block party. The event is part of NASCAR’s Chase Across North America Tour.

“We’re really looking forward to having Paul be a part of our event, just before he makes his debut in the Chase,” Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell said. “We’re really fortunate that our race is a Chase race and Paul will really help get our fans excited too.”

In 16 career Martinsville starts, Menard has a career best finish of 10th, coming in 2014.

The parade route will run from the Martinsville Municipal Building, up Church Street to Lester Street and back down Main Street until stopping at 37 East and will start at approximately 3:45.

After the parade, Steve Post from the Motor Racing Network will host a question-and-answer session with a Sprint Cup Series driver who will be competing for the championship in The Chase for the Sprint Cup.

The Famous Martinsville Speedway Hot Dog™, along with beer, wine and Pepsi products will be free of charge, thanks to the Martinsville Henry County Chamber of Commerce.

The Chase is On!The event is part of NASCAR's Chase Across North America program, where the Chase drivers will embark on a multi-city media tour, crisscrossing the nation to make special appearances and build excitement for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup — a 10-race culmination to the season that crowns a battle-tested champion. Starting with a 16-driver field, four drivers will be eliminated after every three races, setting up a "winner take all" championship showdown at on Nov. 22 (3 p.m. ET on NBC). The top finisher among the Championship 4 will win the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.

The Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot® 500 is the first race in the Eliminator Round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

The Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot® 500 race weekend is October 30-November 1 and includes the Virginia Lottery Pole Day on October 30, the Kroger 200 Camping World Truck Series race on October 31 and the Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot®  500 on November 1.
