PHCC Annual Plant Sale Coming Soon

Patrick Henry Community College's horticulture department will host its annual plant sale at the campus greenhouse from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2.

John Ayers, associate professor of viticulture, enology and horticulture, said it will remain in the same format as past years.

He said the sale is part of his students' education, as it provides experience in growing and management.

"Students grow a large percentage of the plants, they get actively involved in sales, and they get experience dealing with the public," Ayers said.

Many varieties of flowers and vegetables will be available, including flowering plants and ferns. The cost will vary depending on selections. Proceeds collected from the plant sale will support PHCC's horticulture program and improve landscapes on campus.
