Public Invited to take a “Walk Through Time”

You might drive through Uptown Martinsville often, but when was the last time you really took a good look around? There are many treasures to be found and stories to be told in Uptown. The Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center, in partnership with the Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society, invites the public to attend a "Walk Through Time" in historic Uptown Martinsville. During the guided 60-minute tour, participants will walk through the heart of the historic district to discover the history and unique architecture of the area. Historian Debbie Hall will lead the tour and delve into fascinating stories of the shops, businesses and local personalities that have given Martinsville Uptown its rich history.

The first tour will be held on Saturday, July 26th at 2 p.m. It will begin at the new Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center at 191 Fayette Street with convenient parking available in the Moss Street Lot. Tickets for the tour are $5 and children 12 and under, escorted by an adult, are free. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes. Tickets may be purchased at the MHC Visitor Center and all proceeds benefit the Historical Society. Call 276.403.5695 for additional information.
