Rooster Walk 6 Band Lineup Part 7

The Rooster Walk Music and Arts Festival is a charity fundraiser that takes place every Memorial Day weekend (late May) at Blue Mountain Festival Grounds just outside of Martinsville. The festival, which features on-site camping as well as arts, crafts, food and more, donates its proceeds to charity.

Rooster Walk has donated $59,000 to local/regional charities over the past 5 years, $31,000 of which has gone to the Penn-Shank Memorial Scholarship at Martinsville High School. For your chance to have days full of great music for a great cause, get your tickets to Rooster Walk now by clicking HERE. The festival begins Thursday, so time is running out!

Each week, we will be featuring different bands that will be performing at Rooster Walk 6. This is the seventh and final part of the blog series. Read the other sections: part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | part 6.

Here are some of the awesome bands that you can enjoy at Rooster Walk 6!

Karl Denson

Karl Denson's Tiny Universe

For nearly three decades, legendary saxophonist Karl Denson has been getting crowds around the world out on the dance floor. Approaching iconic status, Denson has moved bodies and minds dating back to his earliest years with Lenny Kravitz's band through his ongoing tenure as a founding member of seminal boogaloo revivalists The Greyboy Allstars and his current roll as a member of San Diego dub rockers Slightly Stoopid. Nowhere, however, is this more apparent than with his band, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. Touring relentlessly for the past 15 years and leaving a massive audience in his wake, fans know that when KDTU is in town a dance party will ensue.

Wild Ponies

Wild Ponies

Wild Ponies, a Nashville-based outfit fronted by Virginia natives Doug and Telisha Williams, have previously toured and recorded as acoustic folk duo Doug & Telisha. Dead right, honest songwriting delivered in a hauntingly beautiful and gritty neo-traditional Americana wrapper. Wild Ponies takes all the rich detail and narrative of Doug and Telisha's earlier work and adds a sonic right fist. Quick wit and fearless delivery make every show stunning and personal.

Hotel de Ville

Hotel de Ville

Who doesn't love a Grateful Dead set? Hotel de Ville formed in the Martinsville area three years ago, and ever since they've been impressing fans with their spot-on recreations of the Dead. Their first-ever festival set occurred at Rooster Walk 2 in 2010, and their two sets were a huge hit at RW5. If you love the Dead, you'll love Hotel de Ville!

The Amazing Mongooses

The Amazing Mongooses

The Amazing Mongooses are a three-piece rock band from Decatur, Ga., and have been veterans of the Atlanta metro club scene for the past 10 years. They have released two albums, The Amazing Mongooses, and Blue Sky Blues, and are known for having a high powered sound fueled by tight three-part vocal harmonies. The group consists of former Martinsville resident David Young, joined on bass by his son, Mike Young, and multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Chris Iconis.

Mason Via & Friends

Mason Via is a talented young musician/singer/songwriter from Danbury, NC, who is on his rise. At the moment he is working on his debut EP, "They Call Me Mason", which will feature original music written by the high schooler. Mason's wide variety of musical styles makes it easy for all to love and enjoy listening to his music. His band currently includes bass player, Gopal Semeta, and percussionist, Vish Browning.
