Savory September Celebrates Foods of Latin America

Piedmont Arts invites the community to celebrate the flavors of Latin America at Savory September ¡Celebración de Comida!, a party and fundraiser for the arts, on Friday, September 25 at the museum.

At this tasty fundraiser, local chefs will prepare and serve heavy hors d’oeuvres with a Latin American theme, and guests can enjoy music and a cash bar featuring a signature Latin cocktail.

“Latin American culture is varied and vibrant,” said Joyce Staples, chair of the Savory September committee. “With so many countries and cultures from which to choose, our chefs have come up with tons of creative and delicious dishes that everyone will enjoy.”

Savory September Chefs:

• Ecuador — Claudia Vasquez
• Portugal, Mexico — Rising Sun Breads
• Guatemala — Holly Kozelsky and Friends
• Mexico — Daily Grind
• Colombia — Windy Ridge Farm
• Brazil, Latin Cocktail (Cuba Libre) — Andres Vasquez and Eric Moore
• Cuba — Chef Bob
• Cuba — Ellen Maxwell

During Savory September, guests may also participate in a 50/50 raffle, with half of the proceeds supporting Piedmont Arts.

“In the past, our 50/50 raffles have raised thousands of dollars,” said Piedmont Arts Executive Director Kathy Rogers. “It’s a great way to raise money for the museum and reward one lucky community member for their support of the arts in MHC.”

50/50 raffle tickets can be purchased in advance at Piedmont Arts, located at 215 Starling Avenue, or at the museum on the night of the event for $10 each or $50 for 6.

Savory September ¡Celebración de Comida! is held in conjunction with Celebración de las Artes, Piedmont Arts’ celebration of Latin American arts and culture, taking place through January 2016. This community-wide celebration features exhibitions, performances and events with a Latin American theme. Find a complete list of Celebración de las Artes events at PiedmontArts.org.

Tickets to Savory September are $25 each and include one complimentary drink per ticket. Tickets are on sale now at Piedmont Arts and online at PiedmontArts.org
