Shop Local Survey Kicks Off

Each year, over $49,000,000 is being spent outside this community by local residents. What is that money being spent on? Martinsville Uptown, the Economic Development Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce are partnering to try and answer that question.

On Thursday morning, February 16, the survey portion of the Shop Local MHC initiative will get underway. 1,000 individual local residents will be asked about the products and services they buy outside the area and what additional products and services they would like to see offered in Martinsville - Henry County. On average, the survey takes only 12.5 minutes.

In addition to the survey of individual consumers, 200 businesses will be contacted to find out what they are spending money outside the community on that could be offered locally.
