SRSC Announces 2015 Corn Hole Tournament

The Smith River Sports Complex (SRSC) will host the Blood, Sweat, and Ears Corn Hole Tournament Series that will run April-August.

New for 2015 is free spectator admission, a free kids fun zone provided by King Kidz Fun Rentals, and food from either Chick-fil-A or Mi Ranchito will be available for purchase at each tournament. Also, each tournament will have a 50/50 raffle and adult beverages for purchase from Lawrence Distributing Company.

"The Blood, Sweat, and Ears Corn Hole Tournament Series is sure to be great fun for the whole family," said Chloe Mayhew, SRSC director of marketing. "We are very excited to be holding our second ever corn hole tournament series, especially with the added fun of the free kids fun zone and free admission for spectators. We had a great time last year and we are looking forward to another successful year."

The double elimination tournaments will have a professional division and an amateur division.  Having these two divisions will give competitors of all skill levels the opportunity to play in a single tournament or the entire series.

The five corn hole tournaments will be on the following dates in 2015: April 11, May 9, June 20, July 11 and August 22. The rain dates will be on the following: April 18, May 30, June 27, July 18 and August 29. A championship tournament will be played immediately after the fifth regular tournament on August 22.

Tournament registration for the first four tournaments will begin at 6 p.m. and last until 6:30 p.m. with the tournament beginning at 7 p.m.  For the August 22 tournament, registration will begin at 4 p.m. and last until 4:30 p.m. with the tournament starting at 5 p.m.

During the regular tournaments the pro division will win higher payouts than amateurs. All 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers in both divisions will automatically be entered in one pool for the championship tournament.  The championship tournament will play immediately after the August 22 regular tournament where 1st place will win $500, 2nd place $200 and 3rd place $50.

Registration for the entire series will be $120 per team in the professional division and $80 per team in the amateur division.  Early registration for individual tournaments will be $30 per team in the professional division and $20 per team in amateur.  The fee will go up $10 in each division for sign ups on the day of the event.

There will be a cut off for 60 teams per division so you are encouraged to sign up early to secure a spot. Registration forms are available at SmithRiverSportsComplex.com.

The proceeds from this event will go towards the Friends of the Complex (FOC) program which is the SRSC's annual fundraising campaign.   A special thanks goes to the sponsors of this event: American National Bank, Bassett Furniture, Boys & Girls Club of the Blue Ridge, Chick-fil-A King Kidz Fun Rentals, Lawrence Distributing Company, Mi Ranchito and Peoples Save No. 9.
