Third Annual Touch-A-Truck Set For Saturday, August 6

Martinsville Speedway will once again play host to the Charity League of Martinsville and Henry Counties third annual Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, August 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Touch-A-Truck gives kids the opportunity to climb on and in police cars, race cars, fire trucks, heavy equipment and more.

“Touch a truck is an event we created to provide a fun place for children and their families to come out and experience various vehicles and trucks and get to interact with them and see the different means of transportation,” Charity League President Leighann Harris said. “It’s an experience that they may not have just seeing the vehicles go down the road. It’s very interactive.”

“Kids are fascinated with vehicles that are different from what they ride in every day and Touch-A-Truck is a great way for them to be able to get up-close and personal with them,” Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell said. “The Charity League does a great job in putting this event on and we hope that kids from all over Martinsville and Henry County will be able to come out.”

As in years past, there will be a quiet time between 9-11 where there will be no sirens or loud noises.

“That is for kids who may have special needs and don’t respond well to loud sounds,” Harris said.

Admission to Touch-A-Truck is $5 for kids 2-and-older. There is no cost for adults and children under 2. The first 200 kids will receive a free yellow construction hat.

Sponsors for Touch-A-Truck are: Jones and DeShon Orthodontics, Autos by Nelson, Martinsville Family Dentistry, Canteen Vending, The Eye Site and Martinsville Speedway.
