Tickets On Sale Now For Bushels and Barrels

A full line up of great music, food and refreshment is scheduled for the 2nd Annual Bushels and Barrels Local Food, Wine and Beer Festival to promote local growers and producers at the Reynolds Homestead on Saturday, June 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The festival will feature five wineries and two craft breweries, including Stanburn Winery, Attimo Winery, the Homeplace Vineyard, Preston Ridge Winery, West Wind Winery, Williamsburg Alewerks and Devil's Backbone Brewery.

On hand for local foods will be barbeque, water buffalo burgers, chicken wraps, pizza, and much more, with vendors using locally grown meats and produce. Artists, artisans, bakers, and farmers and growers will have booths with information about their products as well as products for sale. A full check-claim service means for festival goers means you can purchase your goods and they will be stored in a cool area until you're ready to leave the festival. Opening the festival at 11:00 are local band and favorites Slick Jr. and the Reactors. Also performing the Larry Keel Experience, featuring Will Lee on soulful, blues-grass 5 string banjo, penetrating vocals and exceptional song-writing contributions and Jenny Keel on upright bass, with impeccable timing, solid yet imaginative bass lines and vocal harmonies. Add Larry's fierce, high-spirited energy which appeals to young rockers, jammers and alt-country pickers and fans who are equally drawn to Keel's deep rumbling voice, his earthy and imaginative song-writing, and his down-home-gritty-good-time charm.

And keeping that 80s love alive from last year's festival are Love Canon, who don't cover the music of the '80s as much as kidnap it and take it on a bluegrass-tinged joyride. Love Canon refreshes and extends the originals with affectionate humor and effortless virtuosity. The players - including Old School Freight Train's Jesse Harper, Nate Leath, Darrell Muller, Virginia Commonwealth University guitar and banjo master Adam Larrabee, and Mandolin Virtuoso Andy Thacker - add layers of depth to the still-appealing pop hooks. They romp on throwaway classics such as ZZ Top's "Legs" and "She Blinded Me with Science." On their excellent version of "The Boys of Summer," the folk instrumentation adds a traditional context to the time-capsule lyrics.

Tickets are now on sale. VIP tickets are $30 and include a private concert on Friday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m. with the Les Moore Trio including beer and snacks, VIP parking at the festival, and access to the shaded seating area during the festival. VIP tickets will be on sale for a limited time.

Advance tickets are $12; they will be $18 day of show. Designated Driver tickets are $10 and tickets for ages 13-20 are $5. Ages 12 and under are free.
