VisitMartinsville Launches Snapchat Geofilter Design Contest
The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation’s Tourism Office has officially launched a Snapchat contest to encourage residents and visitors to help design a Martinsville-Henry County geofilter.
Snapchat is a picture and video sharing app that allows users to send and receive videos or pictures that will disappear after a few seconds or within 24 hours from a user’s story. Snapchat also utilizes filters to make the user’s photos or videos stand out. Geofilters are special overlays for “snaps” that can only be utilized while in certain locations.
Martinsville-Henry County Tourism Director, Sarah Hodges, says that “Snapchat geofilters are a great tool for place-branding and customer advocacy. This contest will help get the community involved and showcase our local pride in Martinsville-Henry County."
To participate, please send your ideas to Tourism@YesMartinsville.com. From there, the VisitMartinsville team will encourage social media followers to vote for their favorite. The chosen favorite will be submitted to Snapchat.
Specific details to the design include:
• Designs must reflect Martinsville and Henry County
• Dimensions must be 1080 pixels wide and 1920 pixels high.
• Submit as a web-optimized, transparent PNG
• No photographs
• No hashtags
• Artwork must be original
