Visitor Center to Serve as Box Office

Theater patrons now have a convenient central location to purchase tickets for upcoming productions by TheatreWorks Community Players and Patrick Henry Community College’s Patriot Players. The Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center, operated by the EDC’s Tourism Division, now sells show tickets for both performing arts groups in addition to their own line of area souvenirs and apparel.

Tickets for the Patriot Players’ performances of “Legally Blonde: The Musical” are currently on sale now. In the musical, Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside-down, however, when her boyfriend dumps her so he can start getting serious about his life and attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle uses her charm to get into Harvard Law. At school, she struggles with peers, professors, and Warner Huntington. With the help of Paulette and Emmett, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world. Seven performances of “Legally Blonde: The Musical” will be presented April 9-11, 12, and 16-18. Tickets for each show are $15. 

Beginning April 9, tickets for TheatreWorks Community Players’ performances of “Dixie Swim Club” will be available for purchase. In this touching comedy, five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every summer to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives. “The Dixie Swim Club” focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years. As their lives unfold and the years pass, these women increasingly rely on one another, through advice and raucous repartee, to get through the challenges that life flings at them. And when fate throws a wrench into one of their lives, these friends, proving the enduring power of "teamwork," rally 'round their own with the strength and love that takes this comedy in a poignant and surprising direction. Six performances of “The Dixie Swim Club” will be presented April 23-25 and May 1-3. Tickets for each show are $15. 

The Visitor Center is located inside the New College Institute’s Building on Baldwin. The hours are Tuesday – Saturday 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. On Sundays, the Visitor Center is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Convenient parking and access is available from the Moss Street parking lot. Cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are all accepted as forms of payment.
