Welcome to Imagination Lavender Farm

The Imagination Lavender Farm is a dream that is now a reality for Carolyn Byrd, a retired educator. The farm is located in the Dyers Store Community of Henry County approximately seven miles from the City of Martinsville. Carolyn recalls being tantalized by the numerous lavender farms she and her husband, Wayne, visited. She enjoyed the beauty of the lavender, especially the atmosphere, and the sense of peace felt with each farm adventure. Carolyn delved into extensive research on how to grow and harvest lavender and eventually planted 25 English Lavender plants to confirm it would grow on their land. Carolyn and Wayne attended numerous workshops, joined the US Lavender Growers Association and Carolyn went on to complete the curriculum through Michigan State University to become a certified lavender grower. Today their farm is home to approximately 1200 plants consisting of English and French lavender. They recently completed a major renovation of their previous horse barn into a rustic but unique retail shop.

The shop carries a variety of lavender products to include beauty creams, lotions, shampoo, soaps, essential oil and numerous culinary items such as teas, syrups, sauces and lavender honey. A local beekeeper, Tim Tilley, placed a number of beehives on their farm and they are now able to add lavender honey to their inventory.

The shop offers unique art and specialty craft gift items, many made by local artisans.  Items include alcohol ink tiles by Melani Helms, a variety of stained-glass items by Nancy Clark, wonderful water-color paintings by Dr. Jim McIntosh, fused glass by Nancy Erickson, jewelry by Kara Carter-Hundley and Susan Weeks, cedar wine racks by Wayne Byrd and many other unique items. Future plans will include offering a variety of workshops and hopefully a craft festival. In the spring the farm will provide a U-Cut opportunity for visitors to cut their own lavender.

The shop is currently open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. All are encouraged to visit Imagination Lavender Farm website and Facebook page for information updates.
